Get into the engineering methods for fire protection!
Zeit & Ort

Berlin, Otto-Ostrowski-Strasse 5, 10249 Berlin, Germany
Über die Veranstaltung
We give you an insight into the areas of fire and smoke gas simulations, evacuation simulations and hot design. Engineering methods are becoming increasingly important in planning. With the help of calculations and simulations, fire protection certificates for buildings can be created in a protection-oriented manner and supported by examining the spread of smoke, the flow of people and the determination of component stresses.
This helps to enable the implementation of demanding projects deviating from the usual approaches of the building regulations or to solve complex existing situations. Questions from practice that you may also have were:
Are the escape route widths adequate for the ASR?
What is the fire resistance of the cast iron supports?
Is the escape route short enough?
For this purpose, the event offers basics for answering using engineering methods.
The insights take into account the verification according to DIN 18009-1/-2.
After an initial overview of the three main areas of engineering methods in fire protection, you will get straight to the point with practical exercises:
- First you get an overview of the different possibilities of fire simulation and simplified calculation methods, find out which method is suitable for what and try to make a simple estimation by hand calculation
- To evaluate the evacuation of a part of a building, we will show you how you can calculate the time it takes to evacuate a simple room situation using manual calculation methods and microscopic models for complex buildings.
- Finally, you calculate the component heating of a steel girder using a spreadsheet and check whether the steel girder withstands the fire.
Your speakers:
Dr.-Ing. Karen Paliga Expert for preventive fire protection
Gregor Jäger, M.Sc., specialist planner for preventive fire protection
Andreas Kanitz, M.Sc. Expert for preventive fire protection
Dr.-Ing. Jörg Sothmann expert for preventive fire protection
It is recommended if you have already attended a specialist planner or expert training course in preventive fire protection.
You will receive a certificate of participation and, if necessary, you can apply for recognition at a chamber.
